Stefan Michalski was born in Bremen, Germany in 1962. He lives in Düsseldorf with his wife. His hobbies include city breaks, golf, sailing, tennis and skiing. Dr. Michalski speaks German and English.

After two years serving as an officer in the German Armed Forces, Stefan Andreas Michalski studied chemistry and biochemistry at universities in Hamburg, Göttingen, Paris and Berkeley, California. He completed his studies in 1992 with a PhD in liquid crystals.
Dr. Michalski started his training to become a patent attorney in the same year, which he completed in 1995 by passing the German patent bar examination. Stefan Michalski has also been admitted to practice as a representative before the European Patent Office and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
His main areas of IP practice are obtaining protection rights, managing and enforcing patents and patent applications and trademark and designs – not only in courts, but also out of court or before courts of arbitrations. Stefan also performs FTO analyses, draws up opinions and is highly experienced in strategic patent advice and patent infringement cases, especially in the fields of chemistry, pharmaceuticals and material sciences.
Dr. Michalski is regularly recommended in trade publications, and has been featured for many years in the JUVE Handbook and The Legal 500 Germany.
