Dr. Nico Gerd Verbeek studied medical physics at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf and completed his master's degree with a focus on computational physics in 2017. In his master's thesis and doctorate, he dealt with new dosimetric methods and the simulation of interactions between ionising radiation and matter at the West German Proton Therapy Centre in Essen. In this context, he was involved in international research projects such as the European HARMONIC project.
In addition to his work as a doctoral student, he worked as a medical physics expert at the West German Proton Therapy Centre Essen, where he obtained his specialist qualification in particle therapy in 2019.
At the end of 2021, he began his training as a patent attorney at the law firm Michalski Hüttermann & Partner.
Mr. Verbeek speaks fluent German and English. In his spare time, he enjoys 3D printing, skiing and technical diving.
