Patent Attorney

Aloys Hüttermann studied chemistry at the University of Freiburg, where he graduated in 1997 and was awarded the Steinhofer Prize in 1998. In 2001, he completed his doctorate with a thesis in the field of organic synthesis.

Dr. Hüttermann completed his training as a patent attorney in 2005, since when he has also been admitted as a representative before the European Union Intellectual Property Office. Aloys Hüttermann has also been admitted as a representative before the European Patent Office since 2006, the same year he founded our firm with Dr. Stefan Michalski.

Since December 2021, he has been an honorary professor at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences, where he had already been a lecturer since 2014.

The Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO) appointed Dr. Hüttermann as Vice President of the European Practice Committee in 2013, which received the "Committee of the Year Award" in 2014. From 2018 to 2021, he was on the board of the Patent Law Section of the Society of German Chemists.

Dr. Aloys Hüttermann is a regular speaker at national and international conferences and universities, including the Düsseldorf Patent Days, Fordham IP Conference, IPO Annual Meeting, Mannheim Patent Days and VPP.

Aloys Hüttermann is the author and co-author of numerous legal publications in the field of intellectual property law. He is also co-author of the textbook "Das Basiswissen der Organischen Chemie" (published by Wiley-VCH). In 2016, his book "Unitary Patent and Unified Patent Court" was published by Heymanns (new edition 2022), a commentary on the unitary patent system is planned for 2022 or 2023 by Heymanns, for which he will be editor together with Dr. Stefan Luginbühl from the European Patent Office.
