Rainer Kasseckert, born in Würzburg in 1955, studied meteorology and physics at the universities of Mainz and Würzburg. He graduated in 1981. In the same year, he began his professional career in the patent department of Dornier GmbH in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance. He completed his training as a patent attorney after his year in office with the patent attorney examination in 1986. The following year he was admitted as a representative before the European Patent Office. In 1991, he took over the management of the Dornier patent department. There he worked mainly in the fields of aerospace, defence technology, environmental technology, radar and medical technology.
In 1993, Rainer Kasseckert moved to Linde AG and took over the management of the Intellectual Property department, which he headed until 2016. In addition to obtaining intellectual property rights, his main areas of expertise were the prosecution and enforcement of patent applications and patents as well as trade marks and designs - not only in court but also out of court. He carried out freedom-to-operate analyses, prepared expert opinions and advised decision-makers on all patent issues, from patent strategy to possible infringement cases. The patent, trade mark and design portfolio of Linde AG that he looked after covered the fields of refrigeration technology, conveyor technology, plant engineering and technical gases.
Rainer Kasseckert lives near Munich with his wife and enjoys hiking, cycling and skiing in Upper Bavaria.
