Wanze Zhang pursued her legal studies at the University of Cologne, culminating in her attainment of the first state examination in law in 2007. Following this, she undertook a two-year legal clerkship at the Cologne Regional Court, leading to her successful completion of the second state examination in Cologne in 2010, which allowed her admission to the German bar.
Between 2013 and 2014, while working, Zhang furthered her education by obtaining a Master's degree in Intellectual Property Law from Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf.
Zhang specializes in the prosecution and enforcement of trademark and design rights in Germany and Europe, as well as representing clients in litigation at all the major German trade fairs. Her expertise extends to copyright, competition, and domain law.
Moreover, Zhang is particularly adept at advising Chinese companies on patent strategy, including crafting bespoke plans for entering the European market. Her consultancy also covers strategic considerations regarding patent infringement, the preparation of intellectual property due diligence reports, freedom-to-operate analyses, and representation in patent infringement litigation.
Between 2014 and 2024, Wanze Zhang served as an attorney at law and later as partner at a patent and law firm based in Cologne. In late March 2024, she became part of Michalski Hüttermann & Partner.
Born in Beijing in 1982, Zhang now resides in Cologne. She is fluent in German, English, and Chinese. Outside of her professional commitments, she enjoys spending her leisure time at the gym, engaging in various workout activities.
